Israeli UN ambassador: We’re ‘doing the dirty work’ for democracies against Iran
Israeli U.N. Ambassador Danny Danon said Sunday that he and other leaders from his country, ahead of the G7 meeting in Canada this week, expect moral clarity and that the world understands Israel is “doing the dirty work” for democracies around the globe by taking on Iran before it can develop a nuclear bomb.
Danon was a guest on “The Big Weekend Show” on Sunday, when he was asked about what is next with the war with Iran and what will come out of the G7 meeting in Canada.
He told the hosts of the show that Israel takes any threats to exterminate the country seriously, as well as when Iran says it wants to build a nuclear bomb.
“We take it very seriously, the threat of Iran, and what we are doing now, we are eliminating the risk for Israel, but not only for Israel,” Danon said. “Today, those ballistic missiles are flying into Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. They can reach New York City and Miami. Give them a few months, they will have the technology and ability to do that. So, we are preventing Iran from building not only a nuclear bomb, they are actually building a ballistic missile power which can compete with the U.S. and Russia combined.”
He explained that many allies in the region have said they are happy to see Israel take on Iran, though they may not say it publicly. The recent attacks on Iran, he said, targeted military bases, infrastructure of ballistic missiles and nuclear reactors, though Iran is targeting Israel’s cities and neighborhoods.
Danon was asked about resolutions from the United Nations last year, 17 of which condemned Israel, compared to just six condemning the rest of the world, including North Korea, Iran and Syria. So, heading into the G7, he was asked what Israel can expect from the United Nations in terms of Israel’s war with Iran.
“We saw hypocrisy in action. You know, October 7 happened 20 months ago. The UN was not capable until today to pass one resolution condemning the atrocities of Hamas,” Danon said. “They saw the footage of what happened to us on October 7. They were not capable to pass a resolution condemning Hamas; it shows that you need leadership. We are waiting for the new US ambassador to come in very soon, and I’m sure that together we will continue to fight back against the hypocrisy of the UN.”

Sirens sounded across Israel early Monday morning as Israel Defense Forces (IDF) urged the public to find protection after it identified missiles being launched from Iran toward Israel.
“A short while ago, the IDF identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel,” the IDF said. “Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat.
“Upon receiving an alert, the public is instructed to enter a protected space and remain there until further notice,” the IDF continued. “Leaving the protected space is only permitted following an explicit directive. Continue to follow the instructions of the Home Front Command.”
Sirens were heard from the Galilee to southern Israel, Tel Aviv and Central Israel just before 4:30 a.m. local time.
A short time later, IDF said there were several impact sites in Central Israel, adding that the public was permitted to leave protected spaces.
“Search and Rescue forces are operating in several locations across the country in which reports of fallen projectiles were received,” IDF said. “The public is requested to continue to follow the instructions of the Home Front Command.”
Fox News’ Yonat Friling contributed to this report.

Trump says Israel and Iran ‘have to fight it out’ but believes deal is possible

President Donald Trump on Sunday said Israel and Iran sometimes ‘have to fight it out’ while expressing optimism that a deal can be struck as both countries continue to trade airstrikes amid fears of a wider conflict in the Middle East.
Trump was getting ready to board Air Force One to depart for Canada to attend the G7 Summit in Alberta when he was asked about his effort to help de-escalate the tensions between Israel and Iran.
“Well, I hope there’s going to be a deal,” Trump said. “I think it’s time for a deal, and we’ll see what happens. But sometimes they have to fight it out. But we’re going to see what happens. I think there’s a good chance there will be a deal.”
