Utah Valley University official says suspected shooter was in nearby building

Ellen Treanor, associate vice president of strategic communication management at Utah Valley University, told Fox News Digital shots were fired at Charlie Kirk from a building about 200 yards from the tent where he was speaking.

Treanor told Fox News Digital Kirk was “immediately” taken away from campus by his security team following the shooting.

A suspect has been taken into custody, according to the university. They have not yet been publicly identified.

FBI sends agents after Charlie Kirk shot at Utah Valley University; suspect in custody

FBI Director Kash Patel said agents will quickly be on the scene at Utah Valley University, where Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was shot on Wednesday afternoon.

“We are closely monitoring reports of the tragic shooting involving Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University,” Patel said. “Our thoughts are with Charlie, his loved ones, and everyone affected. Agents will be on the scene quickly and the FBI stands in full support of the ongoing response and investigation.”

According to reports, the alleged shooter fired from over 200 yards away. University officials say the alleged shooter is in custody.

President Donald Trump urged everyone to pray for Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, who was reportedly shot at a Utah Valley University event on Wednesday.

“We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!”
